About

Colorado NORML is a statewide affiliate of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) based in Washington, D.C., and serves as the nexus of marijuana reform activism and other efforts to reform Colorado's marijuana laws.

Colorado NORML is a non-profit organization dedicated to removing all criminal penalties for the possession and responsible use of marijuana by adults.  This includes cultivation for private use, medical use as recommended by a physician, and the commercial cultivation of non-psychoactive hemp.

We believe that adults should have the right  to use marijuana recreationally, provided they do it in a responsible manner, much like with alcohol.  Driving or operating heavy equipment while impaired should continue to be prohibited.  We also believe that adults should have the right to cultivate small amounts of marijuana for personal use.  Colorado NORML supports the establishment of a regulated system for the commercial distribution of marijuana to adult consumers.

Colorado NORML firmly supports the rights of patients to medicinally use marijuana upon recommendation by their doctor.  This includes advocating for patients’ rights as allowed under Colorado law, lobbying for the federal re-scheduling of marijuana, and serving as a model for other states to pursue medical marijuana reform.

This organization recognizes the economic and ecological benefits that commercially grown hemp would provide to society.  Therefore, we support the rights of farmers to commercially cultivate non-psychoactive strains of hemp for various industrial applications.

Matt Schnurr  Hello, my name is Matthew Schnur: licensed medical patient, activist, lab manager, and molecular biologist.  Using my educational background, I strive to educate patients, law enforcement, and medical professionals on the truths of marijuana as medicine.

I am honored to work with CONORML and all of its great friends.  Each board member brings unique abilities to the group as a whole.  My goal is to utilize my biochemical background to complement the abilities of our attorneys, bringing both legal and medical information to law enforcment and politicians.  In addition, I am always eager to answer your questions about marijuana.  Whether you want information to give to your doctor, need to find a doctor, or just want to learn what science supports marijuana as medicine, I'm only an email away!
